Minute 108: Not Much Time

Deep in the woods, Roger looks at Eve . “Oh,” says Roger. “There’s not much time,” says Eve.  “Isn’t there?” asks Roger. “I wanted to tell you –  I mean, apologize,” says Eve. “No need,” says Roger. “I understand. All in the line of duty.”  “I did treat you miserably,” says Eve.  “I, uh, — I hated you for it,” says Roger. “I didn’t want you to go on thinking that I – – ” says Eve, unable to finish the sentence. “But I – – I used some pretty harsh words. I’m sorry,” says Roger. “They hurt, deeply,” says Eve.  “And naturally, if I’d known – ” says Roger. “I couldn’t tell you,” says Eve.  “Of course not,” says Roger. “Could I?’ asks Eve. Roger smiles. “No,” says Roger, “I guess not.” “You didn’t get hurt,” says Eve. ” I’m so relieved.” “Of course I was hurt!” says Roger. “How would you have felt?” “I mean in the cafeteria, when you fell,” explains Eve. “When I shot you with the blanks.”  “Oh, that,” says Roger, “No, I –“ “You didn’t-” says Eve.
