S4 Ep5 - IMPORTANT CHAT ABOUT ATHLETE TRANSITIONS | EMMA VICKERS

In today’s episode we have decided to talk about the different transitions athletes experience, specifically focusing on transitioning out of competitive sport.  Now we know every single athletes transition out of competitive sport is so different, however today we would like to share some of our experiences, thoughts and feelings with regards to our own transitions in the hope that you can relate or take away parts that can support you in your own or the people around you’s lives… no matter what your role in sport is!  We will also have a special guest joining us a little further into the podcast called Emma Vickers, Emma has been involved in table tennis for 24 years. She was a senior international table tennis player, and multiple British champion and has competed for various clubs across Europe.  Emma currently, is the national lead for research at the Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme (also known as TASS), conducting various research projects for national and international organisations and delivering educational courses on the topic of athlete lifestyle and transition, which is the area she conducted her PhD in. As you can imagine we are thrilled to have Emma join us for this episode, so that we can pick her brain about the complex athletes life surrounding transitions.  If you're interested in learning more about transitions, TASS run a Level 3 course titled Understanding Athlete Transitions, and you can register interest for the course by visiting the CPD and education section of the website - www.tass.gov.uk Thank you for listening!
