In Search SEO 84: The Ins and Outs of SEO for eCommerce

The fantastic Nik Ranger joins the podcast to discuss what goes into doing SEO for eCommerce sites: · From technical elements to content – what should eCommerce SEO focus on? · How changes in online shopping impact SEO for eCommerce · A look at structured data and Featured Snippets for eCommerce Plus, we dive into the entity sites Google shows inside the Knowledge Panel! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ EPISODE SUMMARY ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ In the first segment, Mordy again returns to his favorite topics: baseball and SERP features. In this case, he’s looking at baseball players’ Knowledge Panels and what site does Google feature in the panel. Mordy noticed that Google prefers to show a player’s Twitter page or their website, i.e., something they own, as opposed to a league bio page which the player (or “entity”) does not own. But if the player doesn’t have a website and isn’t very active on Twitter, only then will Google link to their MLB bio page. This research extends into football players but you’ll have to listen to the podcast for that! In the interview segment, Mordy interviewed Nik Ranger to discuss doing SEO for eCommerce sites. They start off with Nik’s experience playing the violin and how that led her to teach music in Cambodia. Then they got right into it with questions on the sudden boom of e-commerce, using Featured Snippets in e-commerce, the pros and cons of using Shopify, how to improve your e-commerce blog, and more!
