Time For Gaming

We're joined by Simon Gregory of integration firm, Cinema Rooms, and Rik Henderson, all-round gaming fanatic and Senior Editor at technology website, Pocket-Lint, to talk about how gaming might change the home technology business in a post-COVID-19 world. The UK is the 6th largest video game market in terms of consumer revenues, after China, USA, Japan and Germany. Approximately 37.3m people in the UK play games. Consumer spend on games was valued at a record £5.7bn in 2018 with consoles sales up 6.5% to £702m, despite no new consoles being released. But are these gamers a market for home technology professionals? In fact, should integrators be selling gaming rooms as a distinct concept to their customers, rather than as a bolt-on to their home cinema business? And, what gaming technology will change how integrators can deliver a great, immersive experience in the future? This episode was recorded before the current lockdown came into effect. The Integrated Home is supported by Meridian Audio, AWE Europe and Sony and is a Wildwood production.
