"Today’s episode of The Jazz Hole with Linus features a few projects that are more on the experimental, avant-garde and free jazz side. You will get to hear music from 3 brand new releases that came out on the Argentinian ears&eyes records label, all three of them are lead by fantastic Argentinean musicians: Sin Tiempo by pianist Leo Genovese with his local trio featuring Mariano Otero and Sergio Verdinelli, the EP “In another night, in another world” by saxophonist and composer Camila Nebbia (joined by Maya Keren and Akiva Jacobs), and No Comunica by the quintet Formica / Edward / Carracedo Lauretti / Alarcón / Ledesma. The other tracks on today’s episode come from Mary Halvorson’s Code Girl, a group lead by Brooklyn-based guitarist and composer Mary Halvorson and from Trinidad-born, Toronto-based saxophonist and composer Jesse Ryan’s self-released debut album Bridges. In 2009 Linus Wyrsch joined the team of DJs at BTR and took over the bi-weekly jazz show,The Jazz Hole. Being a sought-after clarinetist and saxophonist, himself, in the Big Apple, Linus embraces a unique relationship with the jazz genre and its musicians, consequently providing the listeners with a backstage pass to the New York jazz scene. The hour-long show features the music of new talents from inside and outside of the New York circuit, and every once in a while, Linus is able to sneak in a major jazz artist, sometimes accompanied with a short interview. Over the years, he has interviewed John Clayton, Lew Tabackin, Fred Hersch, Sue Mingus, Steve Gadd, Jojo Mayer, Gerald Clayton, Javon Jackson, the President of Resonance Records George Klabin, Sofia Rei, Sharel Cassity, Mark Sherman, Harvie S, Jean-Michel Pilc, Dafnis Prieto, Randy Johnston, Helen Sung, Gregorio Uribe and many others.
