Rajiv Jayaweera

"Today’s episode of The Jazz Hole with Linus is mostly about drummer, percussionist and composer Rajiv Jayaweera, who just released his debut recording “Pistils” (via Outside In Music). Rajiv was born in London, grew up in Melbourne, is of Sri Lankan heritage and is currently based in New York City. He talks to host Linus about his inspirations and experiences making this album. In 2009 Linus Wyrsch joined the team of DJs at BTR and took over the bi-weekly jazz show,The Jazz Hole. Being a sought-after clarinetist and saxophonist, himself, in the Big Apple, Linus embraces a unique relationship with the jazz genre and its musicians, consequently providing the listeners with a backstage pass to the New York jazz scene. The hour-long show features the music of new talents from inside and outside of the New York circuit, and every once in a while, Linus is able to sneak in a major jazz artist, sometimes accompanied with a short interview.
