"The Jazz Hole and Linus Wyrsch wish you a Happy New Year! This year’s first episode kicks off with a humorous conversation with two of the most celebrated musicians in contemporary improvised music: pianist and composer Satoko Fujiii and her husband of more than 30 years, trumpet player and composer Natsuki Tamura. Combined, this music power couple has released over 100 albums. In November and December alone, they came out with 3 new albums that they discuss today: their duo album Pentas, their album Mantle with drummer Ramon Lopez (both out on November 6th via Not Two Records) and their album Prickly Pear Cactus (out on December 4th via Libra Records), which was actually recorded in two different cities during the pandemic with laptop and electronics artist Ikue Mori. In 2009 Linus Wyrsch joined the team of DJs at BTR and took over the bi-weekly jazz show,The Jazz Hole. Being a sought-after clarinetist and saxophonist, himself, in the Big Apple, Linus embraces a unique relationship with the jazz genre and its musicians, consequently providing the listeners with a backstage pass to the New York jazz scene. The hour-long show features the music of new talents from inside and outside of the New York circuit, and every once in a while, Linus is able to sneak in a major jazz artist, sometimes accompanied with a short interview. Over the years, he has interviewed John Clayton, Lew Tabackin, Fred Hersch, Sue Mingus, Steve Gadd, Jojo Mayer, Gerald Clayton, Javon Jackson, the President of Resonance Records George Klabin, Sofia Rei, Sharel Cassity, Mark Sherman, Harvie S, Jean-Michel Pilc, Dafnis Prieto, Randy Johnston, Helen Sung, Gregorio Uribe and many others.
