Episode Notes

BIO

I am a Kathak enthusiast. I started learning Kathak dance at a tender age in Banaras, U.P., India. I started my training under the tutelage of Dr. Purnima Pandey and continued with Smt. Manju Shukla at Banasthali Vidyapeeth Rajasthan. Both Dr. Pandey and Smt. Shukla are disciples of Sri Mohanrao Kalyanpurkar who was a disciple of Pandit Shambhu Maharaj.

Currently, I teach Kathak dance in Central New York. My students are of all ages, ranging from three to seventy years of age. I find teaching Kathak to be an ideal mechanism to instill confidence and a sense of purpose amongst my students.
