I speak to Juan Cole, Richard P. Mitchell Collegiate Professor of History at the University of Michigan, about Trump's killing of Soleimani and his military and economic treatment of Iran. Then I speak with Iranian-American journalist and Intercept editor Ali Gharib about his view of the conflict. Cole's His most recent book is Muhammad: Prophet of Peace Amid the Clash of Empires.
