Greenwashing Climate Change With Indigenous Leader Mindahi Bastida
Mindahi Bastida joins us from Mexico to reflect on COP, the climate conference he attended in order to get people to listen to indigenous voices and ancestral wisdom. He shares his critique of corporate greenwashing and empty promises. Bastida is the Director of the Original Nations Program at The Fountain and a member of the Mother Earth Delegation back from COP in Glasgow. He is an executive member of the Alliance Guardians of Mother Earth and a spokesperson of the recently created Grand Council of the Eagle and the Condor. He is also the General Coordinator of the Otomi Regional Council of the High Lerma River Basin, Mexico, that promotes the rights of nature and Mother Earth as well as the rights to self- determination of original nations. Mindahi holds a PhD in rural development from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and his scholarship addresses subjects such as the state and Indigenous Peoples, intercultural education, collective intellectual property rights and traditional knowledge, sacred sites, and saving Mother Earth.
