Until this form of guidance became widespread, the way in which young dancers were trained was haphazard and piecemeal. While Kevin and Neil were aspiring youths, the UK dance scene mainly tended to stick to UK-only competitions. The rest of the world tended more towards international competition. People take competitive dancing far too seriously at times, insisting upon authenticity when it comes to costumes or staging. The fail to realise that none of it is truly authentic.
