#1 In Residence With: Stefanie Egedy

In Residence With is a podcast series that delves into the creative processes of sound artists during their residencies at Sound Art Lab in Struer, Denmark. Each episode offers an intimate glimpse into the artists' explorations, experiments, and reflections as they develop new work. In this episode, we meet low-frequency sound artist Stephanie Egedy, who composes music for subwoofers—treating them as sculptural instruments capable of delivering what she calls an “invisible sonic massage.” At Sound Art Lab, she pauses composition to develop a text reflecting on the tactile, emotional, and healing potential of bass. Drawing from club culture and experimental sound, Stephanie’s practice explores how low frequencies can bypass language and reach the body directly—offering a form of sonic care.
