MIXTAPE: Tympanic Sound-Lakes From RVNG Intl by Sugai Ken

Traditional Japanese instrumentation broken into hypertextural ambient music. That describes the sound of Sugai Ken well. He is releasing his new album UkabazUmorezU tomorrow on the New Yorker label RVNG Intl. A record he describes as conjuring the “subtle and profound ambience of night in Japan,” it collects 11 hypnotic ambient pieces constructed from field recordings taken around his home of Kanagawa and its local performing arts center. Here he has carefully collected some gems from RVNG Intl catalogue. It is a beautiful, drifting listening experience. definitely a special treat for fans of intricate sonic textures and expanding soundscapes. More info:
