On Friendships & Flirting

As promised, we’re back for season 4. This week Em tackles a very specific aspect of purity culture, the taboo and stigma of differently-gendered friendships in evangelicalism. She answers the age old question: can people of different genders be friends without the desire to “hook up”? Among other things. As always, just a reminder this is just for funsies, if you’re struggling in your own romantic partnership please seek the advice of a licensed professional if you are able.  The Life She Wrote https://linktr.ee/thelifeshewrote   Credits: Original music by R. Purpose. Hope. Justice. For all those harmed in white evangelical spaces. Emily is a blogger who has been writing about faith deconstruction and religious trauma related topics for 3 years. As someone who grew up inside white evangelicalism (of the charismatic Pentecostal variety) and didn't leave until she was 35 years old, she's done everything from children's ministry, to church administrative work, to leading small groups and ministries, to church finance, to writing small group curriculum. Now she advocates for those who've been abused by those same church systems and doctrine.
