The Women of Evangelicalism: Part 1

In this episode, Em kicks off what will be a 4 part series discussing The Women of Evangelicalism beginning with complementarianism and those who oppose it. For those in the audience that find themselves still a Christian wanting equality for women- but iffy on queer Christians- this episode offers some insight into the importance of intersectional feminism. While it might be the shortest episode she's ever recorded, it might be one of the most important.  Related articles from thelifeshewrote.com: https://thelifeshewrote.com/2021/04/08/why-power-dynamics-matter-in-evangelical-spaces/ https://thelifeshewrote.com/2021/05/07/an-unfair-review/ The Life She Wrote https://linktr.ee/thelifeshewrote Credits: Original music (intro/outro) by R.Scott Okamoto rscottokamoto.com

Purpose. Hope. Justice. For all those harmed in white evangelical spaces. Emily is a blogger who has been writing about faith deconstruction and religious trauma related topics for 3 years. As someone who grew up inside white evangelicalism (of the charismatic Pentecostal variety) and didn't leave until she was 35 years old, she's done everything from children's ministry, to church administrative work, to leading small groups and ministries, to church finance, to writing small group curriculum. Now she advocates for those who've been abused by those same church systems and doctrine.
