EAST LONDON STRIPPERS COLLECTIVE x THE MODEL MANIFESTO
Having both recently attended a ‘stripper life drawing class’ over Zoom, run weekly by the East London Stripper Collective (@ethicalstripper), we were struck by the similarities between stripping and modelling, in particular the need to fight for legal protection as well as objectification being a huge part of the job. We spoke to founder Stacey, and explored preconceived notions of stripping, how the collective came about and what needs to be put in place to prevent exploitation and poor working conditions for strippers. We also asked about what affect today’s Instagram celebrity culture is having on society’s wider conception of stripping now that it permeates our daily lives. This really challenged our own preconceived notions and we were blown away by Stacey’s passion and arguments, so we hope you enjoy!
