Does Stephen Smith's Mother Still Stand By Her Accusations Against The Murdaughs?
In a recent episode of the podcast “Hidden Killers,” hosted by Tony Brueski, guest Eric Bland provided compelling insights into the ongoing investigation of Stephen Smith's death. As the attorney representing Smith's family, Bland has been deeply involved in the case that has sparked countless rumors, accusations, and a media frenzy over the past several years. Smith's mysterious death near the Murdoch estate, initially ruled a hit and run, is now being treated as a homicide, reopening wounds for his family and casting new suspicion on the Murdoch family. Buster Murdoch, in particular, had been accused of involvement in Smith’s death, accusations vehemently denied by the Murdoch family. When asked whether the Smith family still holds these beliefs, Bland emphasized the necessity of discretion regarding his client’s opinions but suggested that time may have moderated their initial emotional response. Regarding Buster Murdoch’s potential involvement, Bland maintained a balanced perspective. He stated, "Do I think that Buster killed Stephen? I have no idea. I think he's a victim until proven otherwise." Acknowledging that Buster had been linked to another case, Bland highlighted the importance of considering context and circumstances and refraining from rushing to judgments without concrete evidence. However, Bland questioned the nature of the relationship between Stephen Smith and Buster Murdoch, stating, "I would like to know what his personal relationship with Stephen was - could be just as innocent as they went to school together." Crucially, Bland drew attention to the evolution of the case from its inception in 2015 to the present day, 2023. He underscored the importance of technological advancements that now give investigators unprecedented access to information. The “Hidden Killers” podcast has previously discussed the role of technology in solving crimes, specifically highlighting the usefulness of phone mapping. Bland informed listeners that investigators had accessed Smith’s phone and tablet. He suggested that the evidence gathered from these devices, including the potential text messages, Instagram interactions, and photos, might hold the key to solving the case. He emphasized, "There is phone evidence that SLED [South Carolina Law Enforcement Division] is looking at. What's on the tablet, what's on his phone...I think this case will be solved by that technological evidence." Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE?
