A Birther of Big Babies at Home
Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Ellie. Ellie is a mama of 2 from Stockholm, Sweden. She works with storytelling and experience design as well as photography. However, after learning in depth about pregnancy and the birth process during her second pregnancy, a little seed of curiosity around working with birth and birthing people has been planted and Ellie might be one of the aspiring Spiritual Midwives of my upcoming Spiritual Midwife program. In today’s episode Ellie will share about both her births with the focus on her second bubba, only 12 days at the time of our recording. In her first pregnancy, at the 41 week ultrasound, the medical staff freaked out about Ellies big baby and recommended instant C/S or induction. Ellie, being a first time mama, and not knowing what she knows today, agreed to an induction that turned out to be more traumatic than she first realized. When she became pregnant again the memories flooded back and she knew she needed a home birth this time. She sought out her independent home birth midwives who reassured her that her baby’s size didn’t matter and she ended up having her 4.6kg baby at home, in the water without a tear.
