Understanding System Integration vs. Replacement & What’s Best for Your Business

It’s important for growing businesses to understand when it makes sense to integrate business systems or look for replacements. So we’re chatting with Jeff Smith, the founder of Catalyst, a consulting firm helping businesses get the most out of NetSuite, to provide some insight. Smith starts by recalling his prior experience using and implementing NetSuite (1:37) before diving into the lack of visibility, reporting and customization he’s witnessed businesses encounter on systems like QuickBooks or Excel (9:27). In order to overcome those obstacles, Smith says businesses tend to integrate applications and systems on top of one another (11:30), leading to even more challenges (15:26). At this point, he says businesses need to consider replacing their current system for a more unified solution like NetSuite (17:26).
