August 26, 2020: How Sport Influences Social Justice Conversation in Today's Society
On August 26, 2020, the Milwaukee Bucks set a precedent to boycott their scheduled playoff game vs. the Orlando Magic. Soon after, their opponent and the NBA followed suit. This was in response to a incident involving 29-year old Jacob Blake, a man in Kenosha, WI just 3 days prior to the boycott. Standing in solidarity, players and teams in WNBA, MLB, and MLS also called off their respective games that evening. With events occurring with Hurricane Laura and the 2020 Republican National Convention along with the ongoing pandemic, the NBA gained attention with their display. Now, the conversation continues. We'll hear from 4 voices all discussing how they viewed August 26, 2020 as a date that will go down in sports history on this special edition of The PabCast. Be sure to listen in to Part 2 of the discussion on 'Splash Considerations' with Justice delos Santos on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Podtail and more.
