[party in my plants] 94: Can You Eat to Beat Depression? How to Use Plant Food to Boost Your Mood [PART 2] with Samantha Elkrief

Today’s episode is the Part 2 to my last episode (episode #93) and unlike The Hangover Part 2, this follow-up gets two thumbs up. Although this doesn’t have Bradley Cooper so you win some, you lose some. But my guest, Samantha Elkrief, is the perfect piggyback to Dr. Drew Ramsey from last week because she works with him! He’s the doctor in the nutritional psychiatry clinic and she’s the implementer! He’s the one all about the science of how food affects our mood and she’s the one about the hows of actually EATING said good moody food. Samantha’s a holistic health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition (me too!) and a health supportive chef from the Natural Gourmet Institute (me also too!) and a social worker by way of Columbia University (me not at all). She specializes in helping peeps eat more plants and find permanent peace and joy with food. And speaking of joy, speaking with Samantha was exactly that!   Prepare your brain to hear:   How brain food isn't as complicated as you think Some signs that you're not feeding you brain the food it needs The best sources of omega 3s for vegans and vegetarians The best nut for brain health (hint: it's not walnuts!) Three things your brain doesn't need you to eat on repeat The ingredients that need to be in your brain health smoothie What to do when you don't want to eat anything Why food isn't always the answer and what else you can do The importance of improving your relationship with food How to eat your veggies AND eat intuitively What brain-boosting supplements to take if you need a little more oomph And lots more!   Links related to this episode: The full show notes with all the deets from this episode! Talia Pollock is a writer, armchair philosopher & storyteller. Formerly the host & author of "Party in Your Plants," which put levity into eating well—her focus is now abolishing phony-baloney living to make depresh less by valuing our values more. taliapollock.com | @imtaliapollock
