#15 - Understanding Anxiety & How to Stop Living in Fear, with Will Williams of Beeja Meditation

In this guest episode, I sit down with Will Willam's - founder of Beeja meditation and author of The Effortless Mind; Meditation for the Modern World. We delve deep into the topic or anxiety, depression and taking control of our nervous systems, as well as how to stop living in fear and start living a more authentic life. Will and I met years ago in London co-hosting mindfulness events and I also eventually enrolled in one of his weekend-long meditation courses, which I loved. I love Will's approach to meditation, mindfulness, wellbeing and spirituality, and in this episode we talk about what anxiety is and why we experience it now more than ever, as well as how and why it can show up and manifest differently in each of us. We talk about simple tools for handling anxiety, including all the different types of meditation for anyone who hasn't tried it yet. We talk about how there is no right or wrong way to meditate, and how it is not about experiencing a specific transformation or achieving one particular outcome; but is instead about personal shifts that help us become more connected to our true and authentic selves. We talk about how we have been conditioned to fear things and about the danger of playing it safe in life and staying in our comfort zones. We talk about how playing it safe can actually be unsafe, on a mental and emotional level. And we talk about the importance of feeling EVERYTHING in life - even the uncomfortable parts - in order to truly feel deep fulfilment and happiness. We talk about how we all have a journey but how we're often too scared to let go and let it unfold; always needing to control things for fear of things not always going "well" or feeling "good". We also talk about how we have a tendency to outsource our health and happiness, and the importance of us taking back control and using tools to make more empowered decisions. We talk for almost an hour and a half so sorry if it's a bit intimidating but every part just keeps getting better so I hope you'll lose track of time and enjoy every second of it as we did.
