Ep 029: Sunlight Over SSRI’s: Why Going Outside Matters More Than Meds

“If you aren't embracing or exposing yourself to natural light or the principles of quantum biology, and all the things about ourselves as electromagnetic beings, it's going to compromise your health and that includes your mental health,” explains Heather Crimson, quantum therapist and experienced marriage and family counselor. The Western medical model heavily relies on prescribing medications even for mild and moderate cases of depression and anxiety. These pills act as a Bandaid rather than actually working out the root causes of the patients’ dysregulation. In this episode, Heather debunks myths about SSRI efficacy and shares her sunlight prescription for cultivating energy, confidence and security without medication. There is a vast lack of knowledge within the medical community when it comes to the impact of sunlight on mental health. Due to busy modern lifestyles filled with artificial light, most people are living in a way that actively works against their body’s natural biology. Although there is no research showing that SSRIs help with depression or even that serotonin is the main driver for depression, they are the most commonly prescribed treatment, even for mild cases. These medications often cause damaging side effects and do nothing to treat the lifestyle factors that are at the root of circadian dysfunction. By getting morning sunlight, reducing artificial light exposure, and blocking blue light in the evenings, your circadian rhythm will begin to properly regulate itself and you will see a marked improvement in both mental and physical health symptoms, all without the help of any medications.  People are quick to discount the efficacy of self care, because it sounds too simple and it is easier to think of a pill as a cure. As electromagnetic beings, humans are designed to get their energy from the sun and nature. When you start to live in a way that aligns with your biology, you will be amazed at how much better you feel.  Quotes “If you aren't embracing or exposing yourself to natural light or the principles of quantum biology, and all the things about ourselves as electromagnetic beings, it's going to compromise your health and that includes your mental health.” (4:41-4:55 | Heather)  “There's an energy problem in their neurotransmitter function, in their hormonal function; and that is the issue.” (13:27-13:35 | Heather) “There's no research that shows that SSRIs help, or that serotonin is actually the cause of depression.” (14:15-14:22 | Heather) “We're not living in a way that supports our biology.” (25:07-25:12 | Heather)   Links Connect with Heather Crimson, LMFT, MS: Instagram: @heathercrimson Website: www.enlightenedmood.com   To receive a FREE infographic of the Ideal Circadian Day & join our email list: https://www.quantumbiologycollective.com/qbc-newsletter-aqb To find a practitioner who understands quantum biology:www.quantumbiologycollective.org To see details about the Applied Quantum Certification: www.appliedquantumbiology.com Follow on Instagram & Facebook: @quantumbiologycollecitve Twitter: @quantumhealthtv   Podcast production and show notes provided by HiveCast.fm

Is your light environment more important than the food you eat? Can sunlight treat depression? Does a barefoot walk outside boost your immune system? The Quantum Biology Collective is a group of pioneering health professionals who study, apply and explain the emerging field of applied quantum biology: a new paradigm of understanding how human health REALLY works that is light years beyond the current traditional medical model. From the vast research showing that circadian rhythms regulate every important process and pathway in the body, to emerging research that quantum mechanical processes are taking place in our cells—this new world is the missing link that you’re searching for, whether you’re a health practitioner, or someone trying to optimize your own health and your family’s. We feature a variety of experts, from medical doctors to researchers to entrepreneurs to health coaches, who all have first-hand experience applying these principles—and getting incredible results—in their health practices and in their own lives.
