This week, Jacki and Lyle digest one of the most watched documentaries of the year so far. You guessed - this week the podcast is talking about all things Beckham! The documentary, from filmmaker Fisher Stevens and available now on Netflix, saw a record-breaking 3.8 million viewers tune into it in its first week, and it has been performing similarly well ever since. Jacki and Lyle break down their key takeaways from the documentary, including Lyle's shock at Victoria Beckham's revelation that she told David she was pregnant the night before 'the kick' against Argentina in the 1998 World Cup. Jacki discusses the extent to which Beckham was hounded by the so-called 'redtops' in the British press in the immediate aftermath of that incident, whilst also looking at how the media has changed since that period, and whether or not the likes of Harry and Meghan could take a leaf out of Becks' book when it comes to how he dealt with the press in the late 90s and early 2000s.
