130 Symbols of the Scottish Clans: Kilt and Tartan

It's alway nice when you can get the words of the Gaels themselves to describe their own culture.  Here, I use an excerpt from The Everyday Life of the Clans of the Scottish Highlands, by Michael Newton, where a MacLeod of Raasay woman composed a lament for her brother in 1671.  In it, she describes what he wore, which is enlightening but not what you'd expect.
