Libel & Antisemitism w/ Mark Lewis
My guest this week is English media lawyer, Mark Lewis. Mark made a name for himself working on some of the UK’s most high profile libel and media cases over the last decade or two. Mark represented the family of murdered schoolgirl Millie Dowler after it was reported that News of the World Journalists had accessed her voicemail after she was reported missing giving her family false hope that she was still alive. Widely known as the Phone Hacking Scandal, the resulting outcry alongside Mark’s work contributed to the closure of the newspaper and led to a range of investigations into the ethics of British media. Mark also represented food-writer and activist Jack Monroe against far-right social media commentator Katie Hopkins which led to an unprecedented ruling of libel in the modern age of social media.
