Episode 212: The Soul Shack (March 2024) aka "2023 Lounge Music ReCap"

Ugh, I'm so behind on posting mixes on Podomatic. Please note that I'm up to date on Mixcloud if you want to listen to the new mixes (while I catch up here)Here is my annual lounge music recap from the past year. Usually it's the February mix, but this year I'm a month behind because the 18yr Anniversary mix got pushed to January, and the house recap became February. Anyway, this is all the non-house stuff, filled with nudisco, daytime disco, amapiano, kaytranada type beats, retro remixes, boogie edits, rn'b, hip hop...all the good stuff (and then some "end of the night" vibes to finish it off). Not all necessarily released in 2023, but I discovered the songs in 2023.So fix yourself a drink, sit back and enjoy the vibes (or lets be real, throw it on in the background while working or doing your household chores lol!)Subscribe on Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id306968245Follow on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/dj_j_meBookings & Merch: jamiewichartz @ yahoo.ca

With a new mix on www.podomatic.com/soulshack each month , DJ-J-ME started "The Soul Shack" in November 2005 on Soulstream Networks as a way to share with the world his take on 'good' music...made with soul. From soulful & classic house to nu disco & chillwave to neo-soul & nu-jazz to rn'b to old school, funk and 'real' hip hop, it's all fair game on "The Soul Shack". Each month, depending on Jamie's mood you may hear any or all of the above music - sometimes a mixed bag of 'all things soulful', sometimes just a particular theme or genre...but always soulful! With Soul Shack parties having occurred in Toronto, New York, Miami & LA, the brand (and DJ-J-ME) continues to grow and gain new fans. Check this podcast for the latest Soul Shack mixes. (Archived Soul Shack mixes are available at www.mixcloud.com/soulshack) About DJ-J-ME: In demand, Toronto based dj who has played everything from 2,000 person Fortune 500 corporate events to Toronto rooftop hotspots like Kost & Lavelle to a decade of TIFF events in Yorkville for various celebrities, as well as gigs in NYC, LA, Chicago & Miami (where he enjoyed a monthly winter residency before Covid hit). His music style can be described as eclectic, sophisticated and soulful, using remixes, edits and acapellas to put a fresh twist on even the most well known songs, seamlessly mixing the familiar with relatively unknown lounge grooves and forgotten gems to provide a unique and engaging soundtrack.
