Episode 237 | Surprising Stats About Prisoners In the US

Very often we are contacted about churches that invite sex offenders into their worship services. We also are asked what the chances are of getting a conviction when abuse is reported. We found some recent statistics on prisons in the US and, to be honest, we were a little surprised. There is a big disparity between the number of sex offenders in prison and the number of those on the sex offender registry.Again, to our surprise, prison populations dramatically shrunk from 2019 to 2020. We do know that most sex offenders receive light sentences, so the statistics actually make sense and should cause us to be extremely vigilant.Prison population ranked by state:https://worldpopulationreview.com/state-rankings/prison-population-by-stateJimmy’s book, The Devil Inside: How My Minister Father Molested Kids In Our Home and Church for Decades and How I Finally Stopped Him https://www.amazon.com/dp/1950948617/ref=cm_sw_su_dpSupport us on Patreon:https://www.patreon.com/SpeakingOutFind us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/jimmyhintonauthorhttps://www.facebook.com/SilentGriefSupportAnd Twitter:https://twitter.com/JimmyHinton12https://twitter.com/clarahintonIntro--Film Glitch by Snowflake (c) copyright 2017 Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial (3.0) license. http://dig.ccmixter.org/files/snowflake/56350 Ft: reusenoiseOutro--I Have Often Told You Stories (guitar instrumental) by Ivan Chew (c) copyright 2013 Licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution (3.0) license. http://dig.ccmixter.org/files/ramblinglibrarian/41284

Om Podcasten

Jimmy Hinton, a minister, and his mother, Clara Hinton, reported Jimmy's father when a victim reported to them that she'd been abused. Sadly, this is rare. Churches typically defend and protect abusers. This show is dedicated to the millions of survivors who have been mistreated or not believed by the church. Jimmy and Clara wish to bring hope to survivors and shift the current culture in the churches that are perpetuating abuse.
