Jim Dowdall Part 1: If the face fits.......

Our first of a two part episode talking to stunt co-ordinator JIM DOWDALL. Jim's experience is vast and memorable. From a circus Rousatabout to being involved in some of the biggest war film in history, Jim has worn as many WW2 uniforms as he has his own clothes! Using his extensive background as an armourer at BABTY, Europes longest and largest supplier of weapons to the film, TV and theatre industry, Jim forges a career as the go to man for WW2 films either as a military advisor or stunt co-ordinator. From WHERE EAGLES DARE to FURY (not to mention A BRIDGE TOO FAR along the way). PLUS!!!!!! appearing as a stormtrooper of a different kind in STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE, only the original one (still probably the best too)! Now, as Chairman of the BRITISH STUNT REGISTER, we chat to Jim about his illustrious career, his steps up the ladder to co-ordinator and his experiences getting there. Part 1 takes up to THE PIANIST with ROMAN POLANSKI. Part 2 will be next week where we talk about his process and 'What is a stunt'?
