Moreover we discuss diagnosis and the limitations of symptom-based concepts of mental health. Dr. Hansen is a professor of counseling at Oakland University. His scholarship focuses on philosophical and theoretical issues in counseling, particularly [neo] pragmatism, epistemology, and theoretical integration. In addition, Dr. Hansen is a leading scholar on mental health culture, a topic that is the focus of one of his recent books: Meaning Systems and Mental Health Culture: Critical Perspectives on Contemporary Counseling and Psychotherapy.
