Episode 40: Discussing the Uyghur Genocide with Hakim Idris and Rushan Abbas

Hakim Idris is the author of Menace: China's Colonization of the Islamic World & Uyghur Genocide.  His wife Rushan Abbas is the founder and executive director of the Campaign for Uyghurs. Hakim and Rushan are among the world's most informed individuals about Chinese activities against Muslim minorities in East Turkistan.Perhaps the single most important human rights problem in the world today, the Uyghur genocide demands greater global attention.  Rushan and Hakim are not just knowledgeable about what is currently happening, they have been personally affected.  "In Search of My Sister" is a documentary film about Rushan's quest to find her sister, Dr. Gulshan Abbas, who was abducted by the Chinese regime and illegally imprisoned in 2018.  Some of Hakim's personal tragedies are discussed in "A Uyghur's Man Letter to his Lost Mother," a piece he wrote in 2020 and was published by Bitter Winter, a magazine dedicated to human rights and religious liberty.   [RECORDING DATE: June 2, 2021]
