Bruce Robison - Iconic Texas Songwriter

THIS EPISODE FROM OUR ARCHIVES WAS ORIGINALLY RELEASED ON NOV. 17, 2019.   Through this podcast, Carly and I have got to interview some of the biggest names in Texas Country, Americana and Red Dirt Music.  Every now and then though, we get to interview people who I truly consider heroes of mine.  This episode, featuring one of the best writers to ever come out of Texas, Bruce Robison, definitely checks all the boxes for me.  For songwriter geeks like me, you’re undoubtedly already aware of Bruce’s work.  However, if you’re not one of those people who always tries to figure out who wrote what song, Bruce’s name may not immediately ring a bell.  Nevertheless, you know some of his songs; I guarantee it.  Here’s just a few Bruce Robison songs made famous by other artists: “Angry All the Time” – Tim McGraw - #1 – 2001 “Travelin’ Soldier” – Dixie Chicks - #1 – 2002 “Wrapped” – George Strait - #2 – 2007 It’s hard to know where to start and where to stop with a life and career like Bruce Robison’s.  Bruce is married to singer-songwriter, Kelly Willis and is the brother of country artist Charlie Robison.  In this interview we touch a little on both of those members of Bruce’s immediate family. I really enjoy the portion of the interview when we get to talk about Bruce’s project called The Next Waltz along with his recent production of the West-Texas super group, the Panhandlers.  Please check them out! I’ll let the episode and Bruce’s commentary speak for itself but this episode is a gem. To check out Bruce’s website and to find our where he’ll be playing next click HERE.
