Andrea Toyias is one of the world’s most successful video game casting directors and voice directors. Her credits include Overwatch, World of Warcraft and Diablo. Andrea is also a highly sought after teacher with her prestigious Monsters and Creatures workshops. She has been a speaker at Get Your Game On and a contributor to The Buzz Magazine. Andrea believes there’s no such thing as a small role. For her, acting is reacting and it’s not always about the voice. It is about the heart and soul of the actor and the connections that they bring, using experiences from their own lives. She believes even a two-line character can have a profound impact on the players. Andrea tells us about the challenges of the casting process and shares the difficulties involved in listening to over 500 auditions for each role. She says that the actors who get the roles are not always the ones with the best voices – it’s the ones who find a way to connect to the heartstrings of the characters.
