e367. Live from PCA 2025: Unpacking Mainstream Sexuality

It took 367 episodes, but it finally has happened! In this special live episode of the VoxPopcast, host Christopher “Mav” Maverick is joined for the first time (in person) by his full panel of co-hosts: Wayne Wise, Hannah Lee Rogers, Monica Geraffo, and Katya Gorecki. The full team broadcasts from the 2025 PCA/ACA conference in New Orleans, discussing the origins and evolution of their podcast born from post-conference bar conversations and then leading a confernce roundtable discussion exploring the portrayal and acceptance of sex in media, the development of the erotica and pornography studies at the conference, and the cultural implications of sexual and gender identity in pop culture and gaming and a plethora of other topics as the conversation moves along. Highlights include the impact of Lara Croft in gaming, the intersections of masculinity and homosocial behaviors, and the commodification of pop stars. The live audience is encouraged to participate, fostering an engaging and diverse discussion on these multifaceted topics. Om Podcasten

Vox Populorum is a blog and podcast devoted to pop culture criticism. We believe that the best way to understand culture is to discuss it. But we also believe that it's a lot more fun to have these conversations throwing back a couple beers at the bar rather than in a classroom. Please join our weekly round table of media critics, academics, creators, artists, professors, students and fans for an engaging discussion about movies, novels, comic books, television, video games, music or whatever else we happen to think of! Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.
