Episode 9: Chutz-Pow! Superheroes of the Holocaust

Today we change focus and discuss something a little more serious than most of our topics. Mav is away on vacation this week, so Wayne is joined by Marcel Walker of the Holocaust Center in Pittsburgh, PA and Rochel Gasson of Duquesne University to discuss a very important and personal project that Wayne and Marcel both worked on. Chutz-Pow!, a comic book series detailing the biographies of real life survivors of the Holocaust. Rather than talk about the horror and tragedy of the Holocaust, it is Chutz-Pow’s mission to focus on people who engaged in genuine acts of heroism during this time. Wayne, Marcel and Rochel speak about the genesis of the project, the personal stories of the survivors and the importance of these narratives and historical biography in general. Please join us for a very special, and hopefully very educational episode of Vox Podcast and let us know what you think. Om Podcasten

Vox Populorum is a blog and podcast devoted to pop culture criticism. We believe that the best way to understand culture is to discuss it. But we also believe that it's a lot more fun to have these conversations throwing back a couple beers at the bar rather than in a classroom. Please join our weekly round table of media critics, academics, creators, artists, professors, students and fans for an engaging discussion about movies, novels, comic books, television, video games, music or whatever else we happen to think of! Nec audiendi qui solent dicere, Vox populi, vox Dei, quum tumultuositas vulgi semper insaniae proxima sit.
