Whole Horse | Understanding the Masterson Method with Katey Campbell

I had the pleasure of beginning to learn about the Masterson Method from Katey Campbell of KC Equine this past summer at the Whole Horse Apprenticeship Retreat, and have wanted to have her on the podcast to share more since then! We sat down together at Firefly Farm to unpack this equine body work method that is growing at a rapid pace - we chatted about the underlying theories and physiology, how it allows the horse to have choice in every moment, why it is effective for so many horses, and why it is accessible for every horse owner to learn. We also got into some geeky anatomy territory as Katey shared about her recent eye-opening experience at an equine dissection.  Katey Campbell at KCEquine Wellness is becoming a Masterson Method Certified Practitioner, she is also a certified Farrier, Equine Veterinary Assistant, Professional Groom and a passionate advocate for equine wellness, working in the industry for over 20 years. The Masterson Method® is a unique, integrated method of equine bodywork that that helps build trust and communication with the horse. It is an innovative form of equine massage that allows the horse to release deep, accumulated pain and tension in muscles and connective tissue. Horses are in the drivers seat of Katey’s career, guiding her each step of the way by her undying and persistent need to be better for them. Katey’s goal is to help more humans deepen their connection and understanding of their equine friends to foster a more harmonious relationship where the horse has a voice. She is making this happen through continual education, practice, and hard work that is then shared through bodywork and clinics with horses and their humans.
