New Moon in Āśleṣā

This is a complex piece of the zodiac pie, a volatile juncture between Cancer and Leo, where Mars, Venus, Mercury, and the Sun all transit in Jul/Aug. It’s as if they are crossing a gap in the zodiac, where all seems lost for a time, especially for those experiencing the more literal expression of this loss. Āśleṣā means ‘embrace’ and ‘clinging’, reflecting skills in mental and emotional manipulation - for good or ill. It is ruled by a serpent, while its symbol is a coiled snake. Snakes represents hidden, occult knowledge and spiritual awakening, as well as poisons, which shows an interest in treating illness. This sign creates immense spiritual and healing powers. Yet it also shows manipulation in our relationships, especially as Venus transits retrograde through the sign. This is a time to look at our attachments; what or who we attach ourselves to, and how we manipulate others to get what we want. When the Moon transits Āśleṣā, it's a good day for secret knowledge, removing poisons, and treating disease. It’s a good time to rid ourselves of behaviours and relationships that are toxic.
