Lunch and Learn: Easter before the Bunny

While for many around the world Easter is the highest holy day, few know the history and development of the celebration. When did the holiday start? What did people do before they could give chocolate Easter bunnies? Is it (as countless websites state) actually derived from much older pagan rites? This virtual “Lunch and Learn” was led by Museum of the Bible Director of Scholars Initiative Daniel Stevens to hear about the context and development of the early Easter holiday.Museum of the Bible’s “Lunch and Learn” programs are one-hour conversations held on the last Wednesday of each month with a curator or outside speaker discussing popular and relevant topics.
