Photography Critiques Suck! So let's fix them!

Photography critiques are traditionally nothing more than opinions offered by people who may be good at photography but who have little knowledge or concern for you or the reasons you took the photograph or how you took it. Critiques offer an opinion of what is wrong with your photograph based on their test and a bunch of creativity killer rules. In this episode, I am going to share the science behind why photo critiques don’t work and I will teach you how to effectively ask for feedback on your work and how to properly give feedback that is useful and has a positive impact on the photographer.  - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Photo Quote: “Photography was a license to go whenever I wanted and to do what I wanted to do.” — Diane Arbus https://www.wikiart.org/en/diana-arbus - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Talent under 30: Please check out Alex Schon a 25-year-old wedding photographer based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. https://alexschon.com/ https://www.instagram.com/alexschon/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Episode Links: DIY Backgrounds: https://video.joeedelman.com/diybackground  Makeup Artist Directory listing makeup artists from all over the United States Videos: You need a Makeup Artist for Great Portraits, Headshots and Model Shots What To Know About Working With A Makeup Artist for great Portraits and Modeling shots - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TOGCHAT Resources Show Website: https://tog.chat My Website: https://www.JoeEdelman.com Join the TOGCHAT Photography Group on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/groups/ispphotographers My calendar of upcoming Live-Online Photography Presentations https://www.joeedelman.com/edu/ I would love to be your PHOTOGRAPHY MENTOR! https://www.joeedelman.com/mentoring-for-photographers/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - FTC Disclosure: No sponsors have paid for inclusion in this video. I am an Olympus Visionary photographer, a Delkin Image Maker, a TetherTools Pro and a StellaPro Champion of Light. These companies do provide me with various pieces of gear that I frequently discuss or mention, however all words and opinions are my own, and I was not asked to produce this video.
