Dr. Köksal Sahin, KPMG Law - The Japanese insurance law & industry: historical perspective and current state (S3E10)
Dr. Sahin is a fully qualified German Lawyer with more than 15 years work experiences, financial regulatory and corporate legal affairs in Ireland, Germany and Japan with high knowledge in Japanese Law and its legal framework and business. He is currently seconded to KPMG Japan. Dr. Sahin has earned his PhD in comparative law by analyzing Japanese insurance law, identifying influences and contrasting it with other jurisdictions. By working internationally, he has also developed a nuanced appreciation of the Japanese insurance market. Our discussion covers the origins of Japanese insurance law, and comparative analysis for starting up an insurance company, launching new products, and distributing said products in Japan vis-a-vis the EU.
