On the evening of September 27th, 2011 Maple Batalia headed to the campus library with a friend. They had a late night study session planned and met up with a few more people there as well. As the hours ticked by into the next morning, Maple hugged her friends goodbye and walked to her car. Just minutes after 1am, a resident heard 7 loud bangs in quick succession. Maple was lying on the ground, having been shot several times.
