#204: The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant: Forgiving Others

Matthew 18:21-35.Jesus told a parable that illustrates what it means to forgive. We sometimes think that we have a right to hold onto unforgiveness when we are wronged, but when we become Christians, we become a part of the Kingdom of God, and forgiveness is the currency of the Kingdom of God. God commands that we forgive others because we have been so graciously forgiven. Who are we to make others repay for their sins against us when we have been released of the debt that we could never repay? This parable speaks of a serious truth for those who choose not to forgive. Unforgiveness blocks our relationship with God our Father, and we cannot move forward as followers of Jesus if we hold unforgiveness in our hearts. The Holy Spirit is able to help us to do this, not in our own strength, but by His power in us, can we forgive others when we are hurt and wronged.Truth Seekers is a part of the Christian Parenting Podcast Network.
