But Homelander is the true leader and appoints The Deep to head of Crime Analytics. After returning from Russia without any real leads Hughie tells a shocked Starlight they’ve lost Soldier Boy and he’s taken temporary V. But Soldier Boy has made his way back to the US on his own and he’s on a mission to kill Crimson Countess. After Soldier Boy explodes in the centre of New York killing 9 innocents, Mother’s Milk makes a tentative alliance with Billy and Hughie to stop him. But Billy has realised Soldier Boy is the weapon they’ve been looking for. After consulting with The Legend, a former Vought Vice President, Billy and Hughie take another dose of V24 and set up Crimson Countess as bait. When Soldier Boy returns and kills the countess, Billy arranges to work with him to take out Homelander and Hughie goes against Starlight’s advice and joins them. Meanwhile A-Train’s attempt to make amends to his community goes disastrously when racist Supe Blue Hawk loses control and permanently injures his brother.
