Jelena Dokic is 'fascinated' by the comments she gets from trolls

It was nearly thirty years ago when Australia fell in love with the teenage tennis prodigy that was Jelena Dokic. In 1999, Jelena was 16 years old and dominating Wimbledon - but behind the scenes, she was living a personal hell at the hands of her father.  It took the best part of two decades for Jelena to tell her story, but in 2016 she released Unbreakable, which became an instant best seller. And now, she's followed it up with Fearless.  In this episode of Under The Gloss, Jelena joins Phoebe to talk about what it took to work through her trauma and PTSD, how 2022 was one of the darkest years of her life, and the comments she gets from trolls that absolutely 'fascinate' her.  This episode of Under The Gloss touches on domestic violence, disordered eating and suicidal ideation, so please listen with care. If this raises any issues or concerns, you can reach out to Lifeline on 131114 or at www.lifeline.org.au, or the Butterfly Foundation at https://butterfly.org.au/.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
