#104 Science, Capitalism & God (with Neil deGrasse Tyson)

This week’s guest on Under The Skin is the infamous astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson! He’s pretty amazing. He was promoting his book ‘Letters From An Astrophysicist’ but he was more than that…being a focused and dedicated educator. I enjoyed talking to him. The main thrust of it was me going, “yeah, come on, there must be God!”. It was actually my ongoing argument that it’s hard to apply the tools of science to realms that may be beyond sensory experience and how can science claim to be objective as it exist within a capitalist consumer culture that has certain agendas and objectives? We also discussed the way in which science has propelled human understanding and how we interface with the unknowable, what role ancient spiritual texts have played and whether science is controlled by the rich and powerful? I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!
