What does risk sound like?

The United Nations General Assembly has designated 13 October as the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDRR) to promote a global culture of disaster risk reduction. Early warning systems must cover multiple hazards. Cyclones, storms, floods and tsunamis, but also to warn against heatwaves, wildfires, droughts, sandstorms, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, disease outbreaks, technological accidents, pest infestations and many other hazards. Early warning by 24 hours can cut the ensuing damage by 30 per cent. Climate change is causing more frequent, extreme, and unpredictable climate-related hazards, making investment in early warning more urgent than ever. Early warning saves lives.  We want to thank Andria Grosvenor, Deputy Executive Director, Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA); Michelle Forbes, Director of the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) of St. Vicent & the Grenadines; Sonia Gill, Secretary General, Carribean Broadcasting Union (CBU); Horace Glaze, Disaster Management Coordinator, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC); Erouscilla Joseph, Director of Seismic Research Centre, University of the West Indies & Peter Williams, Carribean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) for sharing their experience with us. This podcast is made possible by the U. S. Agency for International Development Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance and Climate Risk and Early Warning Systems (CREWS) initiative. We want to highlight its invaluable contribution to make this podcast a reality. *** Credits: Host: Delfina Moreno Della Cecca Script and production: Florencia Flores Iborra Sound mix: Rodrigo Ruesta Graphic design: Eolio producciones Music: "Quinten Coblentz" by Didnt See That Coming, "Yotam Agam" by 6 Sol, "Yotam Agam" by Qing Long, "Yotam Agam.  Universal Consciousness" by Sahana Vavatu, "Artifact.
