Osteoporosis and Nordic Walking with Melissa Domaille

In episode 31, I am chatting to Melissa Domaille about Osteoporosis.  Melissa is a British Nordic Walking instructor, but more relevantly, she is a physio who worked in the NHS for 25 years as a rheumatology specialist and managed the osteoporosis physio service at the Bristol Royal Infirmary.  More recently she conducted a research project with Liz Carver-Richardson to develop a tailored NW programme for people with inflammatory rheumatic diseases. Melissa believes  passionately that engagement in physical activity is beneficial for good health and well-being.  She  joins us today to explain how Nordic Walking can help people with Osteoporosis.Further ResourcesFRAX tool : https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/FRAX/tool.aspx?country=1Royal Osteoporosis Society https://theros.org.ukFind An Instructorhttps://britishnordicwalking.org.uk/apps/store-locatorIf you have enjoyed this podcast, I would be very grateful if you could show your support by buying me a coffee!  This enables me to continue producing these podcasts, as it will go towards covering the server and podcast platform licenses.   Not only is Nordic Walking a whole body workout, but it is also one of the safest and most sociable way to exercise.  Classes always finish up in a cafe enjoying a coffee together.
