In Matthew 5, Jesus begins his Sermon on the Mount, by pronouncing divine blessing upon his disciples. He uses, what we have come to call, the "Beatitude" statements. These beatitudes, are the characteristics Jesus uses to generate a portrait for us of a true believer, a true disciple, and one who is a true follower of Christ.
