06 - Separating Your Digital Life (with Melanie Oldham, Bob's Business)

In this episode of What The Hack?!, I am joined by Melanie Oldham from Bob's Business to discuss the benefits of Separating Your Digital Life. Melanie Oldham is the founder and driving force behind Bob’s Business, an award-winning and leading cyber security awareness training and phishing simulations provider. Melanie challenges the traditional approach to security training by recognising that employees can be the strongest defence against cyber attacks. Melanie is a real advocate for empowering the workforce from the bottom up to be cyber aware and in turn cyber resilient. The core business is aimed at demonstrating a positive approach to cyber security to really embed behaviour and culture change within the organisations she works with. As well as being the CEO of Bob's Business, Melanie acts as an advisor to the government and holds a number of board positions advising on cybers skills, growth, and how to create a secure, equal, and diverse culture across the cyber security sector. Melanie has racked up over 10 years of experience in the cyber security sector and has become a reputable and well-respected force within the industry, having recently been awarded a Fellowship, the highest level of attainment by the Chartered Institute of Information Security. Melanie is also the founder of the Yorkshire Cyber Security Cluster, a collaborative group that works together to reduce cyber security within the region. The cluster brings together local businesses, academics, the police and experts to discuss, collaborate and educate on the key issues facing the region. The Cyber Security Show that everyone understands. This podcast was created to give everyone a chance to understand the ins and outs of the cyberverse. We'll be doing the heavy lifting by chatting to the experts around the globe about all aspects of cyber security and translate it into things much more understandable.  Let's face it, anyone who has ever spoken to an IT guy tends to drift off because we don't understand, or even care, about what they are telling us. That's not to say it's not interesting, we just don't need to know everything. Let's focus on the things we actually care about.
