109. Danielle Patrice - Pt 3 of 3 - "DV" Survivor and Author

This is part two in a three-part story. Danielle Patrice received very few breaks in life. Her parents divorced when she was young, and when she was in her early twenties, she lost her mother. Danielle was forced to figure out life by herself, and she did a magnificent job of doing so. A close male friend became her boyfriend. But, once his role changed, so did his handling of their relationship. In little time, he moved through the stages of abuse: emotional to physical. Danielle had no awareness of dating abuse warning signs, so she stayed with him as things became worse. The couple became married, and they had a son. Danielle had hope to create the traditional nuclear family she did not have growing up, but the relationship she was in had too many problems for this to reachable. Danielle’s story take time to tell. Therefore, it comes to you in three episodes. As with all our WHEN DATING HURTS interviews, there is much to be learned from those who have lived dating and domestic violence. Although Danielle’s narrative has many turns for the worse, it ends with her breaking free and writing a highly researched book that is now available. It is entitled, "Neuroscience: The Ecosystem of Domestic Violence”.
